We have found this formula to work the best on Skunk dogs.

Paul Krebaum, a chemist, invented a new more effective formula for de-skunking a dog.  Mix in an open bucket or bowl:

1 Qt 3% hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
1 tsp. liquid dish soap

You may want to put on old cloths before starting the bathing process.  Be cautious when bringing your dog into the house so you don’t get the skunk oils on your carpet or furniture.

The “Skunked” area may appear to be a yellowish color and look like an oil streak.  Put down a towel or bath mat in bath tub. Put your dog in the tub and get the coat wet.  Warning – this may activate the Skunk smell so use a bath fan if available.  Apply the De-Skunk formula liberally all over area that was sprayed by the skunk and allow to sit on coat for a minimum of 10 minutes.  Rinse really well.  We usually follow up with another bath using a dog shampoo. Towel dry or blow dry completely.

Please Note: most dogs are sprayed in the face and front body of the dog by the skunk.  Be careful not to get the solution in the dog’s eyes but you want to wash the face really well with the solution.  .

This does a great job at deodorizing; however, you may notice a faint smell of skunk for several months every time your dog gets wet.

This formula is meant to mix, use and discard any left over.
