Christy Boecker is enrolled in the Companion Animal Science Institute expecting to earn the Diploma of Advanced Companion Animal Behavior (dipACAB) in 2010. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and a professional member the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), the Association of Animal Behavior Professionals (AABP) and the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program.
Committed to providing the most effective, convenient solutions to her clients’ pet training needs, Christy avidly pursues ongoing continuing education and professional development by attending several seminars per year and keeping current on all industry literature. Pet Perfection puts clients first and is well respected and referred to by local pet related businesses in DeKalb IL. Using purely positive methods, you will find your pet responding with amazing results. Aversive methods are proven ineffective for learning and changing behavior, Christy will show you how to be a positive role model for your pet while achieving desirable behavior from your pet using purely positive methods.
CLASSES OFFERED
Puppies Unleashed! ~ a new and innovative way to socialize your puppy while implementing preliminary attention exercises. Reward based training for your budding pup, we will use food rewards along with life rewards to gain and keep your young puppy’s attention while offering valuable socialization time with other pups & people. This class size is not limited. Any puppy is invited between the ages of 10 – 18 weeks. Proof of vaccination & de-worming schedule needs to be provided at the first class. Each class is 30-45 minutes in length.
Fun-damentals ~ come explore positive clicker training. We will teach you how to phase out the lures and clicks & treats, so don’t be concerned your dog won’t listen unless you have a treat in your hand, phased out properly your dog will comply consistently with your cues for years to come. During class you will have many opportunities to “Proof” your training. You will learn the basic cues. Class size is limited to 15 teams. Each class is 45-60 minutes in length. Confidence Building ~ is designed for the shy dog that may have fear issues based in lacking confidence (this is not for fearfully aggressive dogs-please call for a private consult). During class your dog will be introduced to novel stimuli (i.e. people, objects, dogs) gently and within their own threshold of confidence to alleviate fear responses and encourage curiosity. Food rewards will be used, keeping in mind that a stressed dog will not eat we will also use life rewards to encourage your shy dog. Class size is limited to 6 teams. Each class is 45-60 minutes in length. Proof of vaccinations must be provided. Each 6 week session
Agility Foundations – will cover Start-Line stays, Front cross, Pinwheel, Rear cross prep with left & right spins, the Go out, 2×2 weaving, Jumping, Tunnel, Tire, Table, Targeting, and the starter board for teeter work. We focus on having safe fun as well as preparing for a future career in agility.
